Ableton live push series#
I believe this series is intended for Intermediate level producers. I spent a good few months putting this together to deliver the best possible experience to you. Is it possible to create a track from start to finish using the Push 2? Absolutely! But for me it would be a hugely frustrating task. But Push was never designed to be used that way, it was designed to enhance your experience of using Live not to completely replace it. When I first started developing this video series I wanted to focus on creating a track from start to finish entirely on the Push 2. This video series is the practical process of putting all those techniques to use. There’s even the learning music website that Ableton has designed to help new music makers understand what goes into a piece of music.

For instance, the Ableton website has an extremely thorough video series on how to use their software and hardware. There are hundreds of videos out there that demonstrate the basics of music theory, beat making and how to use Ableton Live and the different functionalities of the Ableton Push. Now before we get started I just want to make it clear that this is not a “how-to” video series. It’s tough, it takes discipline and commitment but it really is worth it. You can purchase all the latest gear and learn all the cutting edge production techniques but nothing will ever replace sitting down and actually doing the work, you just can’t escape it. My intention is to inspire new or struggling producers to block out the noise, keep things simple and encourage you to get behind your computer and do the work. So, why did I decide to do this? There are an abundance of tools out there to help producers make music, sample packs, new gear, updates, schools, masterclasses, podcasts and they’re all trying to sell you something. I will be using the Ableton Push 2 throughout the duration of the series but you really could just use any MIDI controller on the market.
This is just to show how achievable this is for every budding producer out there with a copy of Ableton Live. In this video series we’ll cover first conceptualising an idea, developing the idea into something, fleshing out an arrangement and finally finishing it off.įor Volume 2, I restricted myself to only using sounds, samples and devices from Ableton Live Core Library.
